## DC16 @ CapeTown # Using FOSSology to generate DEP5 BOF gobby.debian.org → debconf16/bof/fossology-dep5 please help take notes during session. Project Home: www.fossology.org Developers information: github.com/fossology/fossology/wiki Mail lists: http://lists.fossology.org/ FOSSology Source: github.com/fossology/fossology Status: tagged 3.1-rc2 Where are we today? - 3.0 Release available, but issues with packaging still need resolution - 3.1 development community is active with features & bug fixes, new docker instance. - New Web Site, info being transitioned from old web site, github - Debian packaging: orphaned since 2012. Volunteers? Development: Generation of DEP5 now possible see 3.1 RC candidate! - Testing help welcome (is the generated debian/copyright correct?) Getting packaging structure working again - in progress. - Debian packaging: DM, DD interested in doing? or mentoring? - It was already in Debian, but got orphaned in 2012, is not maintained anymore (but could be used as a base to refresh?) Open Questions: 1) When packages don’t have debian/copyright files: - FOSSology to help? 2) Does it make sense to use FOSSology to check that the debian/copyright(DEP5) is still accurate when changes are made to a package? - If so, how? - Are there comparison tools available for testing? `cme update dpkg-copyright` from package 'cme' https://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReviewTools 3) In Stretch, who/what is tracking of debian/copyright file status in the packages planned for release?
