Let's publish a Debian Project News issue from DebConf17! Some pointers to start to work: 0. Introductions - joostb - moray - axhn - jaime (observing) (wanting to find out more/help) - ClaraTrT (wanting to find out more/help) - MartinBerends (wanting to find out more/help) - MagicFab (wanting to find out more/help) 1. Where The English version of the DPN is edited in a publicity team git repo. When it's finished, we call it "frozen" and then send a mail to translators and they work in the translations. The day that we decide to publish, somebody of the Publicity Delegates moves the files to the website repo, publishes (it becomes visible at www.debian.org/News/weekly , and sends the mail to the debian-news mailing list). Here you can browse the publicity dpn repo: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/publicity/dpn.git/ (there you will find URLs to clone the repo ( e.g. git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/publicity/dpn.git NOT NOW!) and commit). Don't do it right now! Just keep on reading 2. How Maybe not everybody has commit permissions in the repo, and also if we all work and commit at the same time we'll probably face merge issues that need to solve... maybe, for today, it's better to just paste in a gobby document the contents of the DPN issue in edition, and edit collaboratively. Then, when it's ready (or from time to time), somebody commits in the repo. The issue under edition is this file: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/publicity/dpn.git/tree/en/2017/02/index.wml More info: https://wiki.debian.org/ProjectNews/HowToContribute (but feel free to just find out your way and ask whatever comes to mind!. You can read the documentation later, too. 3. What There is long time since we don't publish the DPN so the current edition is probably filled now with *old* (unpublished) news. We can decide to curate those and keep only the very important ones, and then add the most recent and important. (Since the publication of the 2017/01 issue, we have elected a new DPN, released Stretch, and organized DebConf17!) But maybe people already know that... There are some "fixed" sections of content that we keep in the DPNs: events, once upon a time in Debian, a "dump" of micronews... Probably the micronews since January are so much that we cannot curate, we can drop them for this issue. Finally if you'd like to add any section or news, please go ahead! Don't worry about the formatting. I can deal with it. Important thing is writing the content and wrapping up the DPN issue itself (don't leave unfinished sections, choose to finish them, or delete them). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [we have started with the initial content pasted from /dpn/en/2017/02/index.wml] [in gobby in the document /debconf17/bof/publicity_dpn201702 we have updated the issue and complete each section]
